Chapter 19

Chapter 19

A Chapter by Shantel Moore

We walked downstairs. Jake holding on to me that way I don’t fall. Again. We got to the kitchen where both his parents sat. I glared at them as I took a seat across from them.

“Good morning,” Jake said breaking the tension. Only to realize he could be adding to it.

“Yeah,” his dad said not lifting his eyes from yesterday’s paper.

“How did you sleep,” his mom asked as if she actually cared.

“Fine,” Jake said smiling at me.

“How about you Ashley?”

“Okish,” I didn’t even make eye contact when I answered. I knew if I did my eyes said f**k off b***h straight up.

“So what are your guys plans for the day,” she asked looking at me.

“Whatever Ashley wants to do.”

“Oh.”

She sounded disappointed. What’s wrong? You mad cause you baby boy isn’t kissing you feet. Ha you don’t even like the fact that we spend ten times as much time together then you guys do in a whole week.

“Yup in fact what do you want to do today Ash?”

“We should go shopping. I have like seven or more uncashed checks from my birthday.”

“Ok.”

He grabbed my arm with his cold hands. Yet they were warm at the same time. I looked over at his mom giving her an “I win” look.

“S**t my wallet is upstairs,” I said right as we got to the car.

“No worries I’ll get it,” he said it as he ran to the door.

“Now love are you sure you’re up for walking around?”

“Yeah I’ll be fine. I just wanted to leave and see if it affected your parents.”

“And?”

“Your mom looked sad,” I said smiling.

“Your kind of evil aren’t you?”

“Depends on what the person has done to me or someone I love.”

“Ah.”

“Yeah. So does your bank do third party checks?”

“Sure does. Wait why?”

“I don’t have a bank account.”

“Oh no worries I do. You can sign them over and I’ll be able to cash them for you.”

“Your amazing love.”

“I know.”
