A Night in Front of The Fire

I tried to write this from a guy's perspective.

The fire crackles in the background

While I stare deep into your eyes

How did I fall in love with you?

There’s no mystery there

I think you’re so intelligent

I love your mind

I love your heart

I love your words

I love your voice

I love everything about you

You’re so beautiful

The glow of the fire upon your face as I watch your every move

Makes you even more beautiful

Staring into your dark eyes, they have my attention

No words pass between us

Just silent gazes into each other’s soul

Just being able to look at your effervescent face makes me smile profusely

To breathe in your sublime scent makes me melt

After a glorious shower together

It’s like heaven on Earth just to be here with you

Right here 

With you in my arms lying in front of a warm fire

I love you

I think you did very well. Often guys have more emotional depth than most people give them credit for. The picture of the fireplace perfectly sets the mood, too.

Next to last line...should be "lying in front..."
I like this poem...there is a sense that it come from either perspective...and I like that all the
things loved are not necessarily related to physical beauty...but what is inside.
I heard that fire crackling...maybe we should throw another log on it to keep it going.

Agh...again, thank you, Jacob!!! I swear, I've read over that line a billion times, I don't see how I missed it! I tried to make it not about her physical properties but her chem - (Sorry I've been studying science too much lately) - Her emotional properties, I'd love for you to elaborate more on that throwing "another log on it to keep it going" thing, though.

It's great to see you experimenting with free verse more. It's a very touching piece. You've always had a strong narrative voice and you really draw the reader in and tell a story. I could almost feel the warmth of the fire on my face.

Thanks...I wrote this...or at least tried to write it from the perspective of a very special guy, holding me close next to a fire, our legs intertwined, staring into each other eyes...It seemed like it would make a good poem while it was in my head. I liked writing it keeping him in mind. I'm glad you liked my poem, Ts :)
