Hiding

    It was a cloudy and stormy day. Six people hurriedly walked through the rain, a black book safely hidden within scarves. The rain poured down from the sky and the book tried to break free from the scarves that held it. The woman holding it stopped, feeling attracted to the book.

“Cissy, don’t listen to it” One of the others hissed, taking over the book.

Cissy Parker looked up, staring with confused eyes at the man. His eyes, now shadowed by hatred, were an intense blue color. Cissy then stared at the black book and took a step back.

“We must keep it safely hidden, it calls to me” She mumbled.

“We will Cissy. Now come,” The man said, as they walked on.

“Alex…,” Cissy started, as she heard the book whisper her name.

The man looked up, raising his eyebrows. “Yes?”

“What should we tell the children?”

 

Immediately the others stopped as well. They all turned, couples standing side by side. Each couple had one child. Cissy stared at the book, the wind whispered her name. Or did the book whisper it?

 

Cissy shivered slightly. “I can’t go on. I have to see if Dan is alright,”

“I will go too,” Said Kailey Reed, who was the mother of Ian and wife of Alex.

“Then all women will go,” Aidan, Cissy’s husband, sighed.  

 

Mason and Blair Kerr, the parents of Elisa, nodded. And so Mason, Aidan and Alex moved on, letting their wives go back. The three men went to a graveyard and with their hands they dug a hole. They placed the book in the hole, buried it and then quickly went home.

 

The book waited, gaining it’s power in the years that passed. The dark creatures that were hidden within it snarled in pleasure as their time was coming.
