THE HAND OF FOREVER (Dramatic Monologue)

THE HAND OF FOREVER (Dramatic Monologue)

A Chapter by Daisie Vergara (Dhaye)
"

A piece inspired by the word "forever"...

"
Am I too stubborn?
I don't even want to listen to anyone
Why do they say there's no forever?
Why do they say it's impossible?
It can't be!

Don't they know
That it is the only word
That makes me smile
Dream
Wish
Believe
That there will be hope after all?

Why are they so cruel?
Have they seen me begging on my knees
Just to embrace the wind?
Have they tasted my tears
While wishing the storm to go away?
Now that I have received
The gift of the rain,
Why do they say it's not true?
What should I believe?

Yes, I am stubborn!
Call me eerie
I will accept that.
I don't care anymore
I am not afraid
From those critical minds
It's been too long
That I have unveiled my face
Now, I am facing the light
Let it shine
Let it rain
I'll stay the same

I have only one wish now-
To touch the hand of forever
To feel it's promise
Of an eternity
Blooming in my heart
And somehow
To be there
Somewhere
Someday
Until...

Forever.

BESTFRIENDS FOREVER!

The word "forever" is something very appealing to anyone especially those who are in the earlier stage of a romantic relationship but of course we all know that to love someone until "forever" is just for romantic effect (lol) and is just an unrealistic notion (lol). however, "forever" could be realistic in this context: "FOREVER means giving the person you love unlimited chances of loving you right every day." (the quote is from a movie).

Such a romantic write, dhaye. i remember sarah geronimo's song "Forever is not enough".

It is certainly a subject that has fascinated humans 'forever', but every person has a touch of the divine within them, yearning for the only thing that is indeed forever. Nothing else truly satisfies and it is the hunger that feeds the poets.

It was a thoughtful and yet needful poem that reflects this longing. Very well done, Dhaye!

Thank you so much for dropping by, Eddie.
If there's an element that can be equated with the word forever - its diamond. Its really intriguing that it was coined as women's best friend. Do women's have that close affinity with the word " forever " .?
Only diamond cuts diamond. It will never rust, nor fade . It's indestructible, its formed under the earth core subjected under tremendous heat and pressure ever known to man. Perhaps that could be the reason why its in every engagement and weeding ring for its symbolize a long lasting relationship between two people in love. And if it transcends beyond this earthly life. Then so be it ....

A sad and beautiful poem. Forever and words of love were the great need of youth. It is sad we forget how love was life. Life was love. I like the yearning to return to a lost love. I believe we keep a part of all people we truly allowed in. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

Or perhaps it's not about returning to a lost love? Thank you so much, CP.
