I love you
I love you too

I miss these words
coming from you
while we didn't even look
at each other
when I would be looking at the sky
searching for the brightest star
to ask what I wished the most
you
Only to find
you lookin' right at me
'cause maybe you found it
in my very eyes
what you wished for
me
And we vowed
till death do us apart
and that it did
you've been afar for too long
but like a constant ache
that never subsides
because
Pain demands to be felt
and that I feel
constantly reminding me
that maybe
we would still have been together
this valentine's day...

There is no feeling that is sweeter than looking into someone's eyes and seeing a reflection of your own love there.
But somewhere along the road things go wrong and we are left with sorrow and regrets.
The pain of your words are so evident in this beautiful poem.
I wish you all the best for the coming Valentine's day.

You portray the feeling of an archetypal love very well. And the 'constant ache 'that comes when all does not go to plan. But, such is life. I enjoyed this well written poem.

Thank you for appreciating this old write. Glad you enjoyed 😊
This is a love letter and perfect for Valentine's Day. I found this charming, then sad, then glad that the writer had, at least, known great love. You took the reader from one extreme to the other. Cool.

YumnaKay, I loved this beautiful prose poetry. Touching and vivid!
I loved the painful truth and the honest tone.
PS: I just felt the picture didn't go very well with the piece though. Otherwise great!

Those love poem can start sweet and end with words of a broken heart and wish. I like the powerful emotions leading to honest thoughts and a wish at the end. Thank you my friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome dear Poet.
Intensely bitter-sweet. The sentiments in the first half are pure romance and like life itself often does, it turned sour.
It takes on a life of it's own.
Well done - well purged - well expunged dear poet.
