An avalanche ~ of scars

My days are unmarked
but I have thorns, still,
in places which no longer hurt.

With nights spent, drenched
in cold sweetness
of your absence; a mere memory,
in places which no longer hurt.

And this heart,
an avalanche ~ of scars;
perished.

The scars can remain for a long time, even though they may no longer be hurting. Unfortunately, the memory still keeps regurgitating stuff and often when you least expect it. Time does heal, it will eventually soften and fade. Wonderful writing.

Some scars fade over time, whilst others shall remain indelible and serve as permanent reminders of a given situation, circumstance or event.... Although it might well have been a while since you last wrote poetry, you will always have the gift of it to lean upon and cushion you from all that which might otherwise add to that avalanche of scars....... That makes me smile. Thank you so much for appreciating, C. Glad you like it :)
time does help heal....but memories and pain do linger on a broken soul. and reappear on the surface at times to remind us of our inner emotions of past times.

Thank you so much for your words here, Dee. Appreciated.
so many times we dont look deep enough to see the scars to become them.. in honoring a person's life and heart. I feel them every time I read one of your works. Your poetry brings me to a place of empathy and that is a wonderful gift. ty for the share

Thank you too for appreciating this write, Ghania. Glad to have you around :))
My siblings & I endured years of childhood abuse. One of my sisters describes scars all up & down her arms, showing me by pulling up her sleeves (any scars are long-ago faded to the point of being invisible) & she insists there are horrible scars covering her arms (repeating herself). It’s a sad scene to watch her . . . all those scars are very real to her. She’s 75 and I’m 62 . . . she has an avalanche of scars even 65 years later, & your poem reminded me of how persistent scars can be (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
