Ashing Into Your Cup

Ashing Into Your Cup

A Chapter by DavidRyanM

We sat together in the pizza place.

She ordered pepperoni, I ordered

the veggie pizza. "Mine's really good,"

she said and smiled. "I love you," I responded

without even thinking about it. She looked me in

the eyes and said, "Mine's really good."

Definitely one of my favorites, obviously because the title is pure genius. I love the ambiguity, truly I think this piece is perfect.

This poem can be interpreted in so many ways. At first I was confused about her response, but the more I thought into it, I gave their words different inflections, different connotations. It became something else every time.

I think this is very cute. It's as if she likes him but doesn't want to say it. Maybe she feels it would complicate their friendship but yet she does have feelings for him.
