Class Is Dismissed

Class Is Dismissed

A Chapter by DavidRyanM

It is Robert's turn for show-and-tell. He walks confidently to the front of the
class, despite not having anything in his hands. Clearing his throat, he looks at
his teacher, Ms. Jones, and then back to the class. "Today, I would like to
tell you all about how I walk around at night and peer into my neighbors' windows."
Ms. Jones shifted uncomfortably and crossed her arms. Robert turns to her again
and smiles before saying, "I see Ms. Jones and Claire's father play a weird game I've
never seen before with each other." Claire's face turns beat red, as well as the
face of Ms. Jones. Standing up from her desk, Ms. Jones grabs a text book, and clubs
Robert on the side of the head. He lies on the ground, not moving. Young Samantha
is next and she trembles as she steps over Robert's body with her new doll in hand.

Oh how wicked!!! It reminds a bit of Shirley Jackson in tone.. Macabre, biting and yet made me laugh that evil bitter kind of laugh. Just aces

I like this. A lot. You're heading for macabre territory and I'm happily along for the ride.
I will stick my critique foot in for a moment though. I think either the teacher or Robert need a name change--too similiar. And I felt like I wanted just a hair more build up to the clubbing, but that could easily be done with just another line or two. The bit at the end is great though, as though Samantha better knock it out of the park with her doll, or she'll be next. Great job.
