Chapter 13

Chapter 13

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Indigo sat in the park eating lunch. A man sits next to her and says "I hear you're looking for me."
Indigo says "And you are?"
"Silvain Beaupre."
"Oh. Yes, I am."
"Why?"
"I believe we have a mutual friend."
"Really?"
"Summer." Silvain stands up. "Where are you going?"
"Summer doesn't need you chasing her. She said she'd meet you and she will."
"Please, sit back down. She agreed to a compramise."
"I don't believe you."
"Ask her."
Silvain pulls his phone from his pocket, dials, and puts the phone to his ear. "Is there something you want to tell me?... Like a compramise you made with a certain lawyer?... Because I'm with her now... Hang on." Silvain passes the phone to Indigo. "She wants to speak to you."
Indigo takes the phone. "Summer?"
Through the phone, Summer says "Hello, Indigo. How's your search coming?"
"Found your bodyguard."
"He found you, and he's not my bodyguard. He's a protective friend. You know what that's like."
"I do?"
"Have none of your friends pointed out all the cons of this?"
"One has."
"I bet she has."
"What did you say?"
"I've got to go, but before I do, you've got something on your jacket. Happy hunting."
Indigo looks down at her jacket and notices some of her sandwich filling is on it. She stands up and looks around. Silvain says "She's not here."
Indigo says "Help me find her. Please?"
"My phone?" Indigo gives Silvain his phone. "I can't help you."
"Can't or won't?"
"Won't. See you Friday."
"Wait. How did you find me?"
"Your friend, Reuben, isn't exactly discreet."
Sivain walks away. "Oh, God. What did he do?"
