A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Summer in her kitchen. Indigo walks over to her wearing just a shirt and says “Morning.”
Summer says “Morning. You look good in that shirt.”
Indigo kisses Summer. “What are you doing awake?”
“Nothing.”
“You didnt sleep, did you?” Summer shrugs. “You regret last night?”
“Do you?”
“Asked you first.”
Summer puts her hands on Indigos hips “The only thing I regret is making a myself look like an idiot because I was scared, and I dont even know why.”
Indigo puts her arms around Summers neck. “I was scared too.”
“Not how I remember it.”
“Guess that was the alcohol, but I got over it. Didnt you?”
“No. I, erm, refocussed my energy.”
“Im very pleased you did.” Indigo kisses Summer. “Want to see how grateful I am?”
Indigo kisses Summers neck. “Yeah. But, we should talk first.”
“No talking. Itll spoil this.”
“Indi, Ive got work.”
“Right now?”
“Few hours, but Ive got to check in with my mom.”
“Sure. Right. Ill get dressed and get out of your way.”
Indigo starts to walk away. Summer grabs her hand. “Wait. Youre not in my way. I was going to ask if you wanted to come with me.”
“Why?”
“Because I messed up last night and want to make it up to you.”
“Messed up how?”
“Working then blacking out.”
“That is not your fault.”
“Spend the day with me and get to know me?”
“One condition.”
“Which would be?”
“Come to dinner at my parents house. Soon. Mama wants to see you.”
“Wholl be there?”
“All of us. But Ric doesnt know.”
“If I say no?”
“That was my condition.”
“Isnt this blackmail?”
“You should ask a lawyer.”
“Can I think about it? Ive got a far more pressing matter I need to deal with.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Anything I can help with?”
“Why dont you grab your clothes, get a shower and get dressed while I think about it?”
“Can I have a drink first?”
“Sure. Help yourself.”
Summer walks towards the bedroom. “Where are you going?”
“To find your clothes.”
“Why are you so desperate to get me out of here?”
“Not you. Us.”
Summer goes into the bedroom. “Why?”
Summer comes out of the bedroom, carrying a small pile of clothes, goes into the bathroom and the shower starts to run. She walks over to Indigo. ”Whenever youre ready.”
“Are you going to explain?”
“You didnt want to talk.”
Summer kisses Indigo and gently pulls her towards the bathroom. “Are you trying to distract me?”
“Possibly. Is it working?”
“Possibly.” Indigo stands in the doorway of the bathroom and starts to unbutton the shirt. “Joining me?”
Summer kisses Indigo. “Maybe next time.”
Indigo undoes a couple more buttons. “You sure?”
Summer shakes her head. “If you hurry, Ill take you for breakfast.”
Indigo reaches the last few buttons on the shirt. “Last chance.”
Summer closes the bathroom door and leans her head against it. Silvain says “Denied entry?”
Summer says “By myself.”
“I dont get you.”
Summer walks back to the kitchen and gets a bottle from the fridge. “Whats to get?”
“You manage to get her to come back with you and you turn her down?”
“I have my reasons. Whered you end up last night anyway?”
“I went home alone.”
“What are you doing here?”
“Came to check on you. How did you sleep?”
“Mom called you, didnt she?”
“Yes. She couldnt get hold of you.”
“My phone died. Is she mad?”
“No. She asked how it went.”
“What did you tell her?”
“What do you think I told her?”
“Everything. My mom scares you.”
“She does not.” Summer raises an eyebrow. “OK, she does. She gave me hell about my slip up.”
“Slip up? Is that what youre calling it?”
“Yes. Anyway, after she gave me hell, she told me to pass on a message.”
“What?”
“Youre taking the day off.”
“I cant. Weve got…”
“Ive got everything.”
“Really? You hate the day part of what we do.”
“Its my punishment. You need to talk to her. Unless, you already did?”
“Not exactly.”
“You had sex, didnt you?”
“Will you shut up? Shell be out soon.”
“Wow.”
“What wow?”
“I never thought Id see you like this.”
Indigo says “Like what?”
Summer glares at Silvain. “Excited for a day off.”
“I thought you said you had to work today?”
Summer says “I do. I did.”
“Oh. Ok. I get it. I should get going.”
“Why?”
“I should call Priscilla.” Indigo checks her pockets. “Wheres my phone?”
“Is something wrong?”
“Only with me.”
Silvain says “Oh no. Its not like that. Ive just told Rosie Id cover for her so she could spend the day with you.”
“Sorry.”
Summer says “Im lost.”
Silvain says “Clueless. Utterly clueless.”
“What?”
Indigo says “Never mind. What are we doing today now?”
“I promised you breakfast.”
“You did.”
“Then are you ready to go?”
“As soon as I find my phone.”
Summer walks to the counter, picks up a phone and passes it to Indigo. “I put ti on charge for you. Figured being an important lawyer you might need it.”
Indigo takes her phone. “Thanks. I guess I ran it down more than I thought.”
“The downside of success.”
“Actually, I was texting someone a lot last night.”
“I hope shes worth it.”
“She used to be.”
“Not anymore?”
“Dont know. Time will tell. She wants to talk.”
“And you dont?”
“Past is past.”
“Things from the past can affect the future.”
“Only if you let them.”
Silvain says “As much as this is fun, I need to take a nap.”
Summer says “I thought you went home alone?”
“I did, but I didnt stay that way. Now, go enjoy your day off.” Silvain starts to walk away. “Oh, and Rosie?”
“Yeah?”
“Call your mother. Shes worried.”
Silvain walks into the bedroom. Indigo says “Why is he going in your room?”
Summer grins, kisses Indigo and says “We should go.”
“But, Sums…”
There is a scream from the bedroom and Silvain shouts “ROSIE!”
Summer pulls Indigo out of the apartment and says “Lets go.”
