Chapter 47

Chapter 47

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Indigo sat at her desk, working, when there’s a knock at the door. Indigo says “Come in.”

Zarifa enters and says “You wanted to see me?”

Yeah. Come in and sit down.”

Zarifa closes the door and sits in the chair. “I hear we got the right address for your mystery girl.”

We did.”

So what do you need me for?”

Can you get an old police file for me?”

I don’t know. Depends what file and why you want it.”

Unsolved rape case from seven years ago.”

It can’t be prosecuted now, so I have to ask why?”

I want to see if there is any other charges that can be brought. Maybe get the case re-opened.”

Again, why?”

It’s Summer’s case.”

Does she know you’re doing this?”

I’m not doing anything but looking.”

You know curiosity killed the cat.”

I’ll talk to her about it if we can get the file. No point if we can’t.”

It’s your decision. You got the basic info for me?”

Of course.” Indigo passes Zarifa a piece of paper. “Date of incident and victim’s name. That’s all I got.”

I’ll see what I can do but I still think you should talk to Summer about this. I mean, it could open up old wounds for her.”

I know but I don’t know why it’s getting to me like this.”

Don’t have to explain to me. Although, you probab;y will need to think of something to tell Summer.”

Zarifa leaves. “Summer won’t mind me looking into this.”
