Give Peace a Chance

Give Peace a Chance

A Chapter by Wondering Mind
"

In memory of many

"

I remember when
sweet guitars gently wept.
Now,
they violently bleed.

Well,

they killed that voice,
on the lonely, busy streets
of a cold, free world,

and
before John,
a dream died with King.

Now they sing,
"Give Peace a chance"

. what happened was really, really tragic ... and only a true Lennon fan can feel it ... these words are as beautiful and as profound as John ... for all the bad words in the universe ... we need to protest ... and this is that beautiful protest ... it's a reminder that all is not well with this world if artists are suffering ... and we need to inject these words into a bleeding universe ... what a fitting tribute and tourniquet ...

that's wonderful tribute - i'm glad i read it on his 70th! - and the melancholy of that guitar gently weeping - sails beautifully throughout this poem!

it was a great loss.. i am bit young for the beatles, but have found wisdom and a bit of humor in their writings/songs. The world is such a hard place with too many nuts sometimes.. but here we are trying to survive it!

I can notice the very proper use of "silent rhymes", which is a new technique for you to use... never read it before in your works!!!

Very nice peace my friend, to say the least.

Wow.
You've said it all in just a few lines.
"sweet guitars gently wept.
Now, they silently bleed."
It was vivid and sorrowful, a long wavering, hopeful note. Cold and lonely imagery, with a hint of colour with the word 'freedom.' Beautiful poem.

This is a really wonderful write.
'Give Peace a Chance'... what a great message!
This a delicate piece speaking about corruption and I like that.
Great write!

so few words that mean more then many will ever grasp...I like how you wrap life around so few words to be plainly said with a depth that shatters the silence!
